Mandela Month reminds us that meaningful change begins with small acts of kindness on a daily basis.
Enterprise iLembe, together with its parent municipality, iLembe District Municipality, proudly commemorated 67 Minutes for Mandela Day by extending a hand of compassion to three deserving families in the Shekembuya and Redhill communities within Mandeni Local Municipality.
In keeping with the spirit of #Ubuntu, the programme was led by the Chairperson of the Enterprise iLembe Board of Directors, Mr Nkosenhle Nhlakanipho Mngadi, with the support of the Speaker of iLembe District Municipality, Cllr Dolly Shandu, alongside Ward 7 Councillor Dladla and Ward 14 Councillor Ngidi, both from Mandeni wards.
To preserve the dignity and privacy of the beneficiary families, particularly the children, their identities have not been disclosed.
The families received essential support including groceries, blankets, sleeping mattresses, school uniforms, vegetable seedlings and agricultural inputs.
These resources are intended not only to provide immediate relief, but also to empower households to establish sustainable backyard food gardens through government's One Family, One Garden programme.
