Mandate
Enterprise iLembe is the Economic Development Agency of the iLembe District Municipality, operating as a separate entity focused on driving and coordinating sustainable economic growth across the district. The Agency works to unlock opportunities, attract investment, and support enterprise development within the four local municipalities: KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Ndwedwe, and Maphumulo, with a focus on Agriculture, Tourism, Manufacturing, and Services.

About iLembe
District Municipality
iLembe District Municipality, located about 65 km north of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, is the smallest of the province’s 11 district municipalities. Rich in historical and cultural heritage, the district is divided into four local municipalities: KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo, and Ndwedwe. Strategically positioned between the ports of Durban and Richards Bay and close to the Dube TradePort and King Shaka International Airport, iLembe offers easy access to both local and international markets.
Enterprise iLembe, formally known as iLembe Management Development Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, is a municipal entity wholly owned by the iLembe District Municipality. Established as the district’s local economic development agency, its primary goal is to drive economic growth, promote investment, and support sustainable development within the region. Operating under the Municipal Systems Act, Municipal Finance Management Act, and Companies Act, Enterprise iLembe plays a central role in fostering business development, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, property, and renewable energy initiatives.
