        KWADUKUZA
         Built on King Shaka’s burial site lies the historically rich town of KwaDukuza,
         known as Stanger. Monuments of legendary heroes like Mahatma Gandhi and
         Chief Albert Luthuli are located within the town.




        MAPHUMULO
         Maphumulo is rich in birdlife, scenic landscapes and Iron Age sites, where spears
         and artifacts were discovered. Maphumulo’s KwaShuShu Hot Springs is a natural
         hot spring that emanates from the ground into an island in the middle of the
         Tugela River between Nkandla and Ntunjambili (Kranskop).



        DARNALL
         Known for its large Tongaat Hulett sugar mill, sugarcane from Mauritius was
         planted on the North Coast, creating a sugar mill in Darnall, by Sir Liege Hulett.




        ZINKWAZI
         The seaside town of Zinkwazi, renowned for its lagoon and nature conservancy,
         is fi lled with the gentle sounds of fl owing river, the singing of birds,
         the humming of boats and the grunts of an angler battling an impressive
         catch along the pristine beach. Sugar Bay Holiday Camp is a fun retreat for
         kids during the school holidays.



        TUGELA MOUTH

         The village of Tugela Mouth hosts fi shing contests and a multitude of trails
         and accommodation. Seula Zimbili TVG Resort off ers a thrilling foofi e slide,
         abseiling, a climbing wall, archery, paintball, and a low and high ropes obstacle
         course, amongst other activities. Fort Tenedos, the site of the Battle of Tugela,
         and Mangethe are close by.


        MANDENI
         Mandeni is known for the ‘Ultimatum Tree’, the site where the British
         government gave an ultimatum to the Zulu nation that resulted in the
         Anglo-Zulu war. Mandeni is now a charming residential area with plenty of B&B
         and self-catering accommodation options. Mandeni also has a large industrial
         area called the Isithebe Industrial Estate.
