Morewood Memorial Gardens

 

Situated at Compensation on the Esenembi Rd.

This is the site of South Africa’s first Sugar Mill.

 

A memorial has been erected on the site to commemorate the life of Sir Edmund Morewood, who grew the first commercial sugar cane in South Africa and was the founder of the Sugar Cane Industry in SA.
